Job Description

Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, The HR Generalist I performs all the activities in the planning and delivery of core HR services and solutions in an effort to maintain a positive employee relations climate (quality of work life, positive communication/interaction, due process, corrective action, performance management and proactive risk mitigation) while at the same time fostering empowerment, continuous performance improvement as well as mutual respect, trust and confidence for the HR function. Essential duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides assistance to line management/employees regarding employee relations practices, including the policy interpretation, performance management, conflict management and issue resolution.

  • Partner with business functions in diagnosing situations, needs/issues and respond by coordinating the design and delivery of the necessary HR solutions to achieve desired business results within the context of applicable policies, state and federal laws.

  • Oversee and/or provide end-to-end management of hourly staffing process to include labor requirements planning, sourcing, screening, interviewing, evaluating and onboarding qualified hourly talent

  • Collect/analyze data and prepare HR related reports, providing associated recommendations to leadership, as required.

  • Work with HR Manager to develop/revise, implement and administer Human Resource programs, policies, practices and procedures that improve business performance and also ensure compliance, consistency and equity.

  • Support efforts to streamline and standardize HR processes to improve functional performance and/or elevate HR to a required level of excellence.

  • Work with HR Manager to implement and coordinate change programs in support of strategies and initiatives designed to improve business performance and/or elevate the facility to desired level of excellence.

  • Administer hourly unemployment claims/appeals.

  • Support HR administration as needed.

Additional duties/projects as assigned by the Human Resources Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • Administer Benefits Annual Enrollment process.

  • Serve as sponsor in overseeing facility sponsored employee events.

  • Represent facility in various Community Service events.

  • Develop and facilitate HR related training to facility employees.

  • Facilitate Employee Engagement Survey.

  • Special projects as assigned by the Human Resources Manager.


Requires a bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience with at least 2 years related experience in a generalist capacity, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

Solid working knowledge of HR techniques, applications and programs.

Solid working knowledge (including reporting) of HRIS systems (SAP) and intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.

Demonstrated ability as a creative problem solver required.

Basic project management skills required.

Basic ability to set and execute goals/plans, then evaluate effectiveness/make changes required.

Excellent communication skills (oral, written and listening), including ability to facilitate presentations/training to large groups required.

Demonstrated ability to interface with employees at all levels of the organization required.

Ability to develop innovative approaches to complexHR challenges preferred.

Demonstrated ability to utilize and recognize ways to improve workflow efficiency and implement change preferred.
